The capital of Armenia is one of the most ancient and most beautiful cities in the world.  Yerevan is a treasury of many architectural monuments.  Below are some of the sights we recommend seeing first.  Welcome to a fascinating walk in Yerevan.

1_27-n_629Republic Square is the central square of the city. The Government and Ministries buildings are symmetrically situated on the eastern and western sides of the square. The architectural ensemble of the square is completed by the buildings of “Marriott Armenia” Hotel, House of Communications, Hotel “Erebuni”.

From the North to the South, Yerevan is crossed by Hrazdan gorge with its picturesque parks, lakes and waterfalls, sports grounds, cafes and restaurants.  From the “Hakhtanak” bridge across the gorge there is magnificent view of the city, and behind the bridge is the world-famous producer of Armenian brandy, “Ararat” Factory. The Brandy Factory offers tours, with a full visit to its production facilities, and tasting of their various brandies.

In the very end of the avenue the building of Matenadaran is located. The exposition of  Matenadaran in Yerevan contains monuments of Armenian written culture – about 16 thousand manuscripts.

By the means of escalators one can rise to the main observation platform of Yerevan and continue the walk in the “Hakhtanak” park.
The Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall and the Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre both make up one huge building which most locals simply refer to as the Opera building. It is in the heart of Yerevan, right between Cascade and Republic Square.

The Opera and it's parks are contained between Sayat Nova Street,Terian Street, Tumanian Street and Mashtots Street.

Stairs along a cascade of fountains lead visitors to the Complex, reminiscent of the silhouette of a huge bird with open wings. The building itself resembles the Sydney Opera House of Australia.
